Quick Update:

I’m a sophomore! I’ve started my second year at Duke and it is even better than the first. I am pretty busy all the time. I’m leading a Freshmen girls Bible Study for Campus Crusade and I love it. I am a head tutor for America Reads America Counts, the company I work for. I have also been doing some FAC (First-year advisory council) stuff. In other words, I have been spending a lot time with Freshmen, and it’s great! I have a new roommate this year, and she is so awesome. She is one of my best friends and we have the greatest time. Really, we’re the greatest roommates ever. Also, I have the greatest friends in the world, hands down. They’re incredible. God has truly blessed me this year.

“God wills that we should push on into His presence and live our whole life there. This is to be known to us in conscious experience. It is more than a doctrine to be held; it is a life to be enjoyed every moment of every day.”- A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God Living in God’s presence. I’ve learned so much about that this year. I’ve experienced it through fellowship with awesome people, through realizing that I need God’s grace every single day of my life, through learning to really love people. This year has been absolutely incredible because of it. Let’s see, what have I been up to? Well, last week some friends and I watched all three Lord of the Rings in less than a week and I spent way too much time hanging out with friends and probably not enough time working. It’s okay, though. I love spending time with people and investing in relationships. This past weekend was Campus Crusades’ freshmen retreat. We went to Emerald Isle. It was so fun getting to know people and hanging out with my best friends. And I was at the beach, so of course I had a good time. I am so blessed, God has made that very obvious to me this year. I love my life. I am learning to pause and enjoy life’s pleasures every day. God gives us so much all the time, all we need to do is look around and think about our days to see how much He loves us. ”The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10Pictures: 1. I may not have as creative of titles, but I think that’ll be okay.Last night I went to NC State for this thing called AFTERdark. It is put on by Joe White, the president of Kannakuk camps (Christian athletic camps around the country). First there is a concert (last night was Braddigan, who is incredible) then Joe White builds a cross and somewhat tells the story of Jesus through a cross-maker’s eyes. A bunch of us went to see if we wanted to try and get AFTERdark to come to duke next year. It was interesting. Tonight is Duke’s first game of the tournament. We play Bellmont. I’m watching it with campus crusades and then afterward there is a CRU leader development class. I’m pretty excited. Go Devils!I’m going home tomorrow! This will be the first time that I have slept in my own bed since Christmas break (January 5 was my last night I believe). I am so so excited!

So, a lot has happened since my last post. Tenting is now over and I am sad. I really enjoyed it, especially my day shifts. There’s nothing better than sitting outside of the tent on a gorgeous day talking to my friends that are also out there. I really do miss Kville. The carolina game was incredible. Yes, we did lose, which was incredibly depressing, but it was still an awesome experience. I was front row. I still can’t believe it. I painted my face, which was uncomfortable, but I had to do it anyway. It was so loud in there. I have been in the student section of Cameron too many times to count and never has the volume even come close. Man, I sure do love my devils.Last week was spring break. I went to Emerald Isle with about 55 of my friends from Campus Crusades. I didn’t know everyone before going, but now I consider many of them my closest friends. Most of my best friends went as well, so that was fun. It was such a great week. By far the greatest time I’ve had at Duke yet, and I have had some great times. I loved every part of the week. The people I have met in college are absolutely incredible. I’m really sad spring break is over, I miss spending all day every day with those people (and having no classes, of course).I don’t really know what else to say, but life is amazing. Absolutely incredible. Beyond awesome. God has blessed me so much.Pictures: 1. Tent four before the Duke-UNC game 2. The Isle of Cru gang at Sanitary Fish Market 3.

So Duke is still awesome. I have been insanely busy this semester. Young Life leadership has started and I am so glad. I have been really busy with Campus Crusades. I was in a video for large group the other day, which was so fun. I’m also on the Isle of Cru (our spring break trip) planning team. Then there’s kville. I’m in kville a lot. I’m hardly in my room. It’s a good thing I like being busy or I would be going crazy right now. ACC basketball time. Oh my goodness, there is nothing better. I was front row for the Virginia game and that was incredible. Last night we played State and it was one of the loudest games I’ve been to so far. I love ACC games. The crazies section is absolutely insane. There’s very little I enjoy more than being in the student section in Cameron. So yeah, I’m basically just loving life right now. I wish it would slow down a bit, but everything is fantastic!

Well, I’m an 8th of the way through college. That’s so weird. One amazing semester down, seven great ones to go. I’ve made some incredible friends. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve gotten to see God in a new perspective. I’ve discovered that some friendships are going to last forever, but some of the ones I thought would may not. And that’s okay. I didn’t think it was possible for me to love Duke basketball any more than I did coming into duke. I was wrong. I don’t miss a basketball game. They’re too important. There is nothing like being in the student section in Cameron. I ended up doing well in my classes, which was a relief. God has blessed me in more ways than I could ever imagine. Through sunsets and beautiful weather. Through Duke and experiences. Through the greatest friends a girl could ask for. But mostly, I am blessed because I have the awesome opportunity to know God, to have a relationship with Him, to know He loves me so very much. Some Pictures: The first is of my Bible Study and best friends at Duke. The second is of my best friends from home. Even though I’m at college, my high school friends still mean the world to me.

My tough week was right before thanksgiving. Unfortunately, exams start on Tuesday, so next week probably won’t be too fun. Last week was the Duke v Wisconsin game. The intensity in Cameron Indoor Stadium was the greatest yet. It was incredible. I can’t wait for even bigger games! Also, I was on tv 3 times during the eastern kentucky game! It was pretty exciting! That’s really all. Just been doing school, basketball, young life, and friends!

I’m taking a quick break to catch this page up. Last week and this coming week have been and are going to be crazy. I have a ten page paper on Bob Dylan due and an exam on Tuesday. I had a lot of stats work last week, I have a Spanish exam on Wednesday and a paper on polarization of political parties due next Sunday. I have been doing a lot of work, but that’s okay, Thanksgiving is almost here!

Duke basketball. Friday night was the first game of the regular season and our boys are looking good! I love being in the student section. I love being a Cameron Crazie. I love leaving with tired legs and a struggling voice. It’s amazing. I cannot wait for more games! Duke basketball is life.

In other news, parents weekend was the first weekend of November. I absolutely loved having mom and dad here. It was great to see them and they had a blast. They got to eat in the dining hall, go to a football game and a basketball game, and experience a service in the chapel. It was a great weekend. Tuesday is my Young Life leadership interview! I am so excited! I cannot wait to start leading again! I really miss it. It was my favorite thing in high school and I can not wait to start back up!

That’s the past few weeks in a nutshell. Sorry that it has been so long. I’ll try to be better at posting!

Wow it has been almost a month since I’ve posted! Sorry, things have been crazy.
So here’s a brief synopsis of October:
1st weekend-fall break. A bunch of my friends were home so I hung out with them a lot. Went to dinner, watched movies, star gazed, played apples-to-apples, you know, the usual. I love it when everyone’s home. I absolutely love it. I went to brother’s house for Sunday night. Got to hang out with him, tonya, emma, and jack. that was so fun. I headed back to school on tuesday!
2nd weekend- I was at Duke that weekend. It was so fun. We had all kinds of homecoming stuff. Saturday night we went to a homecoming dance and my friends accidentally locked my keys in the car and we were in the parking lot for about an hour figuring out what to do and waiting on AAA. It was hilarious. We had more fun hanging out in the parking lot then we did at the actual dance. (I don’t particularly like dances anyway) I love my friends here.
3rd weekend- WINDY GAP with Sandhills Young Life. Ah, what a great weekend. Almost all the Young LIfe leaders from last year were there and all the kids. It was so great seeing all my best friend and all my wyldlife girls (who are now in young life since theyre freshmen…ah, theyre so old!). It was amazing.
4th weekend-I went to the Guster concert at NC State and got to see a lot of my high school friends and hang out with some of their college friends. Saturday night was the blue and white game. I AM SO PUMPED FOR DUKE BASKETBALL! On Sunday evening we went to my friend Mary Fletcher’s house in Raleigh and had a homecooked meal. It was great!

As you can see, October has been fun! The weeks are mostly just school work, but if I’m at Duke, I’m happy, no matter what I’m doing. This weekend is parents weekend and im really excited because it’s been about a month since I’ve seen them! yay!
So, basically, things are great!

brother-the flickr plug in isnt working. i dont know what’s wrong. Love you!
